Halal Restaurants
Indonesian Restaurant Cabe Meguro
Cabe is just a few minutes away from Meguro Station. The name of the restaurant is the word for “chilli” in Indonesian. It offers mouthwatering Indonesian dishes such as Satay (skewered grilled chicken with peanut sauce) and Randang (spicy beef simmered in coconut milk) prepared with Halal ingredients by qualified chefs. Try its daily special at lunchtime served with Soto Ayam (spicy turmeric chicken soup) and Toraja coffee on weekdays when you don’t have to rush back to lectures in the afternoon. Toyosu campus
![Toyosu campus](/about/img/cat2_2_img03.jpg)
With both a large shopping mall and the newly opened fish market just a stone’s throw away from our campus on a reclaimed island in Koto-Ward, Toyosu is gaining popularity from both residents and non-residents alike. The surroundings still have the charm and reminiscence of the pre-modern era, which is an interesting contrast from the cosmopolitan image of the capital.
Halal Restaurants
Tokyo Muslim Hanten
Located in Kinshicho, Tokyo Muslim Hanten is the first Halal Chinese restaurant in Japan. As the name entails, the restaurant is dedicated to Muslim locals and visitors. Chinese cuisine is popular for its wide variety and diversity of ingredients used. While there are some ingredients typical to Chinese that do not conform to Halal standards (such as pig meat or fat to name a few), the range of dishes is vast so you will not be disappointed. Not only are the Chinese dishes prepared with delicious Halal ingredients, but the décor is also very unique with a mixture of Chinese and Islamic themes. Now that’s what we call the best of both worlds! Certified by Japan Halal Foundation.

Gyomu Super Omiya Store
Here’s another local supermarket that carries Halal food in Omiya! Gyomu Super prides itself on offering Halal certified products since 2009. Run by a listed company specialized in manufacturing, wholesaling and distributing food ingredients for professional use, this unique supermarket franchise has become widely popular among general consumers in recent years. Not only its private-label products are market niche but Gyomu Super also offers many distinctive and exotic imported ingredients that cannot be found elsewhere. More importantly, its increased support by consumers owes to the great “value for money” experience in terms of price, quality and quantity; the same also applies for its Halal products. Food products sold and the style of labeling may differ from Gyomu Store outlet versus other stores, so some items may be hard to identify whether they are Halal-friendly. However, Halal foods which are currently available at Gyomu Super are displayed on the company website, so you will get an idea of what to look for. The store is close to The Railway Museum, so why not enjoy a day out exploring the history and evolution of railway in Japan, followed by a grocery shopping to stock your kitchen cupboard?
